Don’t we all have that one friend who just seems to be ticking and clearing all his checkboxes and to-do list really quickly? The one who somehow always finishes his tasks on time without fail. And yet, here we are still stuck on the very first or second task, often struggling to hit deadlines.
What exactly do these productive people have in common? How do they just overcome daily challenges, such as – procrastination, mundane and repetitive work, or even just staying focus and motivated to complete task by task?
To be productive isn’t easy, but everyone is making baby steps to be a more efficient person every day. With more tasks checked off, we will have more time on our hands to do things that we enjoy and to spend more time with our loved ones. What follows are some of the common habits efficient people have, and perhaps we can start by trying to incorporate these habits into our daily lives
01 Always Have a Plan
When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. That is simply because you are not sure what is your focus for the day. Highly efficient people always have their day all planned out the night before, and this is to make sure that they stay productive and are constantly on track the second they wake up. Learn to plan your day with an end goal in mind as this can help to effectively improve your efficiency and teaches you to say “NO” to things that are not on your schedule.
02 Never Multitask
Multitasking may seem as though you are doing a lot, but in actual fact, it actually hinders your productivity and you might even take longer to complete these tasks as compared to when you deal with them one by one. Doing so many things at once actually causes you to lose focus and you might even waste a longer time trying to continue where you left off. The most efficient people tend to put their 100% on one single task, producing the best possible results.
03 Learn to Break Your Tasks into Smaller Parts
There are several reasons why people procrastinate, and one of the reasons could be that the task on hand seems too challenging and demanding. You are lost as to where and how you should start. But listen, at the end of the day, you still gotta do it. Highly efficient people usually break down their tasks into smaller parts, it helps them to conquer these milestones easier. Set tiny goals for each task and slowly work towards them.
04 Take Breaks
Resting is crucial to achieving maximum efficiency. Just like your body needs a time out after an intense workout, your brain and eyes too after staring at the computer screen for so long. Your body needs to rest, and that means getting ample sleep every night, exercising, and eating healthy.
This list is not exhaustive, but here are some habits that efficient people have in common. Still, even the most efficient people are human, and they would also have their downtimes. The key is learning how to get back on your feet and start tackling each task. Simply start on the task and not wait for motivation or inspiration to drop on you. Make mistakes and iterate along the way and you’ll find that you never once regret starting! Everyone has the same 24 hours and you can make yours count by starting something today!
